Lars Volden klar for Vålerenga

With Jadeveon Clowney returning to Houston, Logan Hall gives up No. 90 jersey

Jadeveon Clowney is returning to Houston, and teammate Logan Hall has apparently given him the No. 90 jersey.

Hall, who signed with the Texans this offseason after playing his first four NFL seasons for the Buccaneers, had been wearing No. 90 in Houston just as he did in Tampa Bay. But the Texans announced that Hall is now wearing No. 96. bettingx.club

There's been no formal announcement that Clowney will wear No. 90, but Hall presumably gave up No. 90 so that Clowney could have it. Clowney wore No. 90 from 2014, when the Texans made him the first overall pick in the NFL draft, until 2019, when he was traded to Seattle and played one season for the Seahawks. Clowney also wore No. 90 for two seasons with the Browns, but he has worn other numbers in other places: No. 99 for the Titans, No. 24 for the Ravens, No. 7 for the Panthers and No. 42 for the Cowboys.

Now that he's back to Houston, he's back to his original Texans jersey, one that plenty of Texans fans still have and will wear again this season. And Hall will generate some good will in Houston for a gesture of respect to a player who wore No. 90 before him.

‘I can’t wait’: Dominik Szoboszlai hungry for Liverpool reset under Andoni Iraola

  • Midfielder adapting to life under new manager

  • Reds need ‘something special’ without further additions

Dominik Szoboszlai believes last season’s frustration can push Liverpool to challenge for the title again but admits the squad must produce “something special” if no reinforcements arrive before the transfer deadline.

The Liverpool midfielder upped his already impressive level last season, being named the club’s player of the year, but collectively the team went into reverse with Arne Slot losing his job as a consequence. The poor title defence from a team that won the Premier League comfortably in Slot’s debut season should, Szoboszlai insists, prompt a reaction in Andoni Iraola’s debut campaign as Liverpool head coach.

Football transfer rumours: Chelsea’s Mudryk to reunite with Lampard at Coventry?

Today’s rumours broke you once, made you strong

Cody Gakpo’s performances went south last season and now his entire personage might follow, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly preparing an offer in the region of £70m to bring him to north London. There appears to be some mixed messages floating around about this potential deal. The Mail say Liverpool “have no plans to sell Gakpo” and that “it would take a huge sum to change their stance”, but these things are fluid. The Athletic say “Liverpool have no intention of selling”, but also, and in the same sentence, that they “would judge his value relative to other deals this summer, including Morgan Rogers’ transfer to Chelsea”. So, in short, Spurs will have to whip out their recently-discovered XXL chequebook if they want to get this one over the line.

Talking about Chelsea, “multiple Premier League clubs” have contacted them to ask about the availability of Mykhailo Mudryk, recently freed from a doping ban, says the Mirror. They name only one of them: Coventry City, coached by two-time former Stamford Bridge manager Frank Lampard. The Sun specify that “two more Prem sides are believed to have enquired, while there is interest from three clubs in Europe”. The Mirror’s report on the battle for the Ukrainian’s services is inevitably, but pleasingly, headlined “Mud Fight”.
