Tom Garfinkel steps down as Dolphins president and CEO

President and CEO Tom Garfinkel has stepped down after 13 years in the role. Garfinkel will remain vice chairman of the team and Hard Rock Stadium as well as the managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix.

"I love the Dolphins and the people here, but after 13 years it was just the right time for me to make this decision," Garfinkel said in a statement. "The business has never been in a better place and the team of people we have here is second to none in sports. I want to thank the South Florida community and Dolphins fans for all of their support over the years and especially [Dolphins owner] Steve Ross for the opportunity to be a part of this great organization.

Ross also announced the creation of Ross Sports & Entertainment and named Daniel Sillman the CEO of the new organization, which will encompass the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open tennis tournament and the Precision Drive Club. Sillman will oversee the Dolphins' football operations in his new role.

The Seahawks added a linebacker on Tuesday.

They announced the signing of Garrett Nelson to their 90-man roster. Wide receiver Kyre Duplessis was waived in a corresponding move.

Nelson was in camp with the Broncos last year and spent time on practice squads in both Denver and New Orleans during the season. He also had stints with the Dolphins and Bengals in 2023, but has no NFL game experience.

Nelson played for San Antonio in the UFL in 2024 and 2025. He had 27 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 19 games for the team.

Duplessis signed with the Seahawks last week.

Buffalo's postseason loss to Denver was notable and consequential in that it resulted in the firing of former head coach Sean McDermott.

It was also a game in which quarterback Josh Allen committed four turnovers, including an inexplicable fumble with seconds remaining in the first half that allowed the Broncos to take a 10-point lead at halftime.

While the Bills have moved forward with Joe Brady as head coach, Kevin Clark of ESPN asked Allen in a joint interview with Brady how he processed his latest postseason loss in the divisional round.

After starting his answer in jest with, “Next question,” Allen talked about how the Bills have to continue persevering.

“I mean, definitely we’ve watched it, we’ve put it in the past, we’ve learned from it,” Allen said. “We’ve been in the playoffs a lot of times in the last however many years I’ve been here now. And just continuing to find ways to learn from it.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow sometimes because we haven’t gotten it done. But you knock enough at the door, it’s going to open at some point. That’s what we have to keep doing, is keep knocking on that door and giving ourselves chances to be in that situation again.”

The Bills have lost in the divisional round in four of the last five seasons. They’ve also lost twice in the conference championship to the Chiefs since 2020.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel is not too concerned about wide receiver A.J. Brown’s dislocated thumb.

Asked about Brown's injury, Vrabel made clear that football players and coaches don't consider dislocating a digit to be a particularly big problem.

"I think he's going to be OK," Vrabel said with a smile. "I told him the linemen do that every other snap, and it's not a national story when a lineman pops his finger back in place. But we had a little bit of fun with that."

Still, while Vrabel doesn't think there's anything special about a football player playing through an injured thumb, he said he has been enjoying watching Brown compete on the practice field with cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

"I appreciate what A.J. and Gonzo have done, just come in and compete and try to improve," Vrabel said. "It's been a good battle, and that's pro football. I love watching it, and I think there's a great amount of respect each of those players have for each other and understand the work that they're putting in now is going to pay dividends in the season. I think that's all you can ask from your front-line players, that they come out and they're focused on getting better each day, and they're intentional with their work. When they're out there, it sends a clear and easy message to the rest of the team about how we're supposed to challenge and compete. I think it's been a good competition."

It would take more than a dislocated thumb to keep Brown out of that competition.
