The Malawi FA leader said the plan reflects his association’s commitment to creating sustainable pathways for girls and women in football.
“This strategy reflects our commitment to developing sustainable pathways for girls and women through grassroots football, elite competitions, governance, marketing, and technical development. It is an investment not only in football, but also in empowerment, leadership, and national progress,” he said.
Pillars of the strategic plan

Migogo described the launch of the plan as a big step in women’s football while acknowledging the support of all stakeholders, including official sponsor National Bank of Malawi.
“I am very grateful to FAM and FIFA for helping us with this roadmap. This will guide us on how we can work and how we can move forward with the under 14, 16, and under=17,” she said.
The plan is expected to enhance competition pathways and support the growth of players, coaches, referees, and administrators.
‘They came to defend’ – Mofokeng reflects on Pirates draw
Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng has reacted to the Buccaneers’ failure to beat Durban City this past weekend.
Needing a victory to secure the Betway Premiership title, the Sea Robbers were held to a goalless draw at the Orlando Stadium.
Pirates still have a chance to win the league if they beat Orbit College on Saturday.
Mofokeng admitted Durban City made life difficult for Pirates, with the visitors arriving determined to defend deep and frustrate the hosts.
“It was very difficult from the very beginning until the end. They came to defend and they did it very well. I think they were preparing for that the whole week,” Mofokeng told SuperSport TV in his post-match assessment.
“We also tried to create chances, but we didn’t convert them. We could have converted our chances, so we could be having a different conversation here.”

Meanwhile, Abdeslam Ouaddou felt his players were heavily targeted physically during the clash and defended his squad after the match.
“There is a difference between playing with strength and physicality on the ball and trying to break players. This is not my mentality and never will be, firstly as an educator before being a coach,” Ouaddou told the media.
“We need to protect the players. If someone cannot protect them in the middle of the pitch, then I have to protect them.
“We must not forget that there are children in the stands.
“We have to be an example. Football has to be a bridge, an example and a model for the next generation.”
Mofokeng is Pirates top scorer in the league with 10 goals.

Wembanyama’s Spurs Win At Thunder In NBA Conference Finals Opener
LOS ANGELES, May 19 – Victor Wembanyama delivered a 40-20 performance as the San Antonio Spurs opened the NBA’s Conference finals with a double-overtime win at the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The match-up between the first and second seed in the Western Conference features Wembanyama, this season’s defensive player of the year, go up against Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for a second straight year.
And the best-of-seven series got off to a thrilling start on Monday as San Antonio had the chance to win it at the end of regulation time, and then Oklahoma City in overtime, before the Spurs prevailed 122-115.
Wembanyama’s alley-oop dunk with 22 seconds left in the second period of overtime put the Spurs up by six and meant the France forward finished with 41 points and 24 rebounds.
At 22 years and 134 days old, he is the youngest player in NBA history to reach 40 points and 20 rebounds in a play-off game, and joins Wilt Chamberlain (1960) as the only players to do so on their Conference finals debut.
“He has a rare desire to step into every moment that’s in front of him,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said of the 2023 first overall draft pick.
“I think he has showed in his three years in a lot of different situations with a lot of different circumstances that he’s going to attack those moments. He has some rare God-given ability.”
San Antonio’s rookie guard Dylan Harper claimed 24 points and 11 rebounds as Thunder suffered their first loss of the play-offs having swept the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers in the previous two rounds.
Alex Caruso led the top seeds with 31 points off the bench, while Jalen Williams added 26 and Gilgeous-Alexander claimed 24 points and 12 assists.
“We knew it was going to be a dog fight,” said Gilgeous-Alexander, who received his MVP award before the game. “We’ve just got to be better, me in particular.”
Game two is also in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, while the New York Knicks open the Eastern finals at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.
