Markram to miss rest of The Hundred

Aiden Markram has returned to South Africa for personal reasons and will miss the remainder of The Hundred.

The Proteas T20I captain was appointed Manchester Super Giants skipper after the player auction in March. He led them to victories in their opening two matches, but they have since suffered three consecutive defeats.

Markram scored 67 runs in his first four innings before making a half-century at The Oval on Sunday.

Manchester confirmed his departure on Wednesday and wished him well while thanking him for his contribution during the tournament.

Former England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will lead the team for the rest of the season, starting with their match against Welsh Fire at Old Trafford.

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been signed as Markram’s replacement. He is expected to join the squad for Manchester’s final two group matches as they continue their push for a playoff place.
