Porter Jr. Makes Cowboys Debut Sunday

Published October 4, 2026 · Updated October 4, 2026 · NBC Sports

Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. will make his first appearance of the 2026 season for the Cowboys on Sunday, less than a week after being traded from the Steelers.

Porter was listed with a back injury while in Pittsburgh, but his contract dispute was seen as the true reason for his inactivity. He wasn't on the Cowboys' injury report.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Porter is expected to play limited snaps against the Texans. His presence is welcome for a Cowboys defense that has struggled with consistency over the first month of the season. newsbetting.bond
