Cubs Acquire RHP Kevin Gausman from Blue Jays

The Chicago Cubs have traded for veteran right‑hander Kevin Gausman, sending outfielder Brett Bateman and infielder Ty Southisene to the Toronto Blue Jays. Gausman will pitch for the Cubs in the final months of his contract, remaining a free agent after the season.

Kevin Gausman, 35, will bolster the Cubs’ rotation as they chase postseason play. In 22 starts this season he went 5‑10 with a 4.38 ERA over 127 ⅓ innings, striking out 127 and walking 36. rocore.sbs

Gausman was a key contributor to Toronto’s 2025 AL pennant run, posting a 10‑11 record, 3.59 ERA and 189 strikeouts in 193 innings, and a 2.93 ERA in five World Series starts.
