Lanning: UCLA Reminds Him of Indiana Title Team

With Oregon set to host UCLA on Saturday, Ducks coach Dan Lanning drew parallels between the Bruins and the Indiana team that defeated his squad in last year's College Football Playoff semifinals. "We're about to play a UCLA team that reminds me a lot of Indiana from last year," Lanning said, noting both programs had flailing football programs before being rebuilt by coaches from James Madison. h-doctor.club

Like Indiana's Curt Cignetti, UCLA's Bob Chesney brought coordinators and multiple players from JMU. "Extremely well-coached team," Lanning said. "You've got two coordinators that were with (Chesney) before, so they've been together for a while, a lot of continuity." The Bruins' 4-0 start has surprised many, mirroring Indiana's turnaround that led to a national championship.
