McNulty Wins Shocking World Championship Title

American Brandon McNulty sensationally won the men's road race at the World Championships in Montreal, becoming the first US champion since Lance Armstrong in 1993.

The 273.4km race featured a hilly 12-lap circuit in downtown Montreal. With Tadej Pogačar absent due to a Vuelta crash, McNulty emerged as an unexpected winner after the US team sent him out early in the final laps. He built an advantage of nearly a minute over the favorite group, which included Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel, who had attacked earlier in the race.

Michael Matthews took silver while van der Poel claimed bronze. Norwegian Jørgen Nordhagen finished 16th in a race where Isaac del Toro's late attack proved insufficient to catch the American. McNulty's victory marked a significant upset as he became the first American to win rainbow stripes since Lance Armstrong's triumph in Oslo 30 years ago. milkshakeslot.lat
