Harry Kane denies contact from Barcelona presidential pre-candidate: ‘I am very happy here’

Barcelona’s upcoming presidential elections are now at the stage where candidates are presenting their campaigns and manifestos, and it is safe to say that none of the big promises being made appear feasible.

While Victor Font continues to fantasise a campaign around a potential Lionel Messi return, others promise big signings that simply appear impossible given the club’s current economic situation.

One such candidate is Xavi Vilajoana who has promised to sign Harry Kane if he is elected to power.

“Yes, we have started contacts. I personally have not, but people who will be part of my project have begun sounding things out,” he said about Kane’s signing earlier this week.

Kane denies the news

Speaking to Sky Sport Germany via Mundo Deportivo after Bayern Munich’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt last night, the English striker was asked about Vilajoana’s words and the truth behind the Barcelona story.

Kane, however, denied any knowledge of the same and explained that his family took care of all transfer-related affairs and contacts with external clubs.

“I haven’t heard anything about it. My father and my brother take care of everything, but they haven’t told me anything.”

Kane then explained that he was happy at Bayern Munich and that the thought of a move to Barcelona did not cross his mind in any capacity.

“As I have already said, I am very happy here at Bayern. I’m focused on this season and on my career at Bayern.”

“I take it as a compliment,” Kane concluded on the Barcelona saga.

For the player himself to come out and deny knowledge of the pre-candidate’s manifesto goal, needless to say, comes as a massive blow to Xavi Vilajoana’s campaign.

Despite all of his promises, however, it has always been clear that Kane will be a difficult target for the Catalans to pick up given his comfort at Bayern Munich and the German club’s project.
