Ex Fiorentina Defender Adamant “Serie A Title Race Is Over” As Inter Milan Move 10 Points Clear Of AC Milan

Daniele Adani insists that Inter Milan have effectively secured the Serie A title, despite 12 games still remaining.

Speaking to Domenica Sportiva via FCInterNews, Adani declared the Scudetto race over after AC Milan’s home slip-up against Parma yesterday.

Inter squeaked past Lecce on Saturday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Manuel Akanji scoring late to inspire their side to a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, Massimiliano Allegri’s side lost 1-0 at home to bottom-half Parma last night.

As a result, ten points separate the two teams heading into the last 12 rounds.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu appears to be on course to win the Scudetto in his first season in charge of the club.

Indeed, it will take something truly special from the Rossoneri to leapfrog their arch-rivals down the final stretch.

Adani first took stock of Inter’s faltering Champions League campaign.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri suffered a 3-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their knockout playoff tie last week.

However, Chivu’s men will be keen to pull off a comeback when the two sides meet again at San Siro tomorrow.

“The Italian teams have lost against sides that aren’t among the strongest in Europe,” Adani claimed. “Also against some underestimated teams like Bodo/Glimt, despite their recent history, and others packed with players who left Italy.

“I’m thinking of Galatasaray, or Borussia Dortmund, which played with an Italian born in 2008 because four of their defenders were out.”

“It’s neither easy nor guaranteed, even though the team is the strongest in the league, to win in your first year,” Adani adds. “For me, the league is over, but it wasn’t a given that Chivu would win in his first season.

“Pioli didn’t do it, Inzaghi didn’t do it.

“Allegri’s second spell lasted three years, and he finished many points behind.

“Spalletti didn’t win in his first year, and Conte won at Inter only in his second season.”
