The Edmonton Oilers appear to be closing in on a trade.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli reports that Andrew Mangiapane is expected to be moved in the "next three to four days," with that report coming out on Monday.

The NHL trade deadline is on March 6, less than two weeks away, but it sounds like the Oilers may not even have to wait that long to get a deal done.

Mangiapane has a cap hit of $3.6 million through the end of the 2026-27 season.

In his past, he would've warranted that number.

This season, not so much.

"It just hasn’t worked in Edmonton," wrote Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff at the end of January.

Mangiapane has fallen down the pecking order, dealt with healthy scratches, and he even had his agent granted permission to find a trade for him.

The contract has been hard to move, according to the same report from Seravalli, but apparently they're getting close.

An acquiring team would likely be hoping that a change of scenery could do Mangiapane good.

The Oilers likely couldn't expect a whole lot in return here, but if they can get out of Mangiapane's deal now rather than later, it could be addition by subtraction.
