Sources: Barcelona line up €60m move for explosive Belgian winger

Barcelona’s transfer planning for the summer is already in motion, and one new name has entered the conversation.

According to a recent report from Fichajes, the Camp Nou outfit is closely monitoring Lyon winger Malick Fofana in order to reshape their attacking options.

At just 20 years of age, Fofana represents a very different profile compared to more established targets such as Marcus Rashford.

While Rashford would offer immediate experience, Barcelona’s technical department is reportedly attracted to Fofana’s long-term ceiling.

Internal scouting reports highlight his explosive pace, sharp dribbling and tactical intelligence – traits that fit naturally into Hansi Flick’s system.

So what now?

While the interest persists, any potential deal is far from straightforward because the club’s political landscape could heavily influence the outcome.

With presidential elections scheduled for March 15, any shift in leadership may redefine transfer priorities.

That said, there appears to be broad agreement within the current sporting structure that Fofana is a player worth serious consideration.

Financially, the operation would not be simple, as Barcelona are believed to be evaluating a fee in the region of €60 million.

Lyon may be open to negotiations mostly because Fofana’s contract runs until 2028 and this €60 million would help them stabilise their financial position.

Crucially, any move would need to comply with La Liga’s salary framework and the well-known 1:1 rule.

Barcelona cannot afford missteps, and the club would need precise financial planning to register the Belgian without compromising future flexibility.

In a market where elite young wingers quickly become unreachable, Barcelona are trying to act early.

However, whether the club can turn interest into a formal offer will depend not only on strategy, but also on political and financial clarity.
