Warriors' Steph Curry ‘still interested' in 2028 Olympics, Marc Spears believes originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Bad news for the rest of the basketball world: Steph Curry might not be going anywhere anytime soon.

The Warriors superstar, who helped Team USA secure the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics with an iconic performance celebrated around the world — and bemoaned throughout the country of France — might run it back on the international stage in 2028.

ESPN’s Marc Spears joined “NBA Today” on Tuesday and discussed Curry potentially returning for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

“Steph Curry is still interested to make his second Olympic appearance,” Spears said. “He will be 40 years old at the time. Hey, look, he’s a shooter. The greatest shooter of all time. Why would you not want that on your roster? … But he is not out, let’s just say that.”

Curry himself has not closed the door on returning for the 2028 Olympics, but expressed doubt that he would return in an interview with fellow NBA superstar LeBron James, his Team USA teammate, on an episode of his “Mind The Game” podcast released back in November.

“You already know my answer,” James told co-host Steve Nash when asked about playing in the 2028 Olympics. “Don’t even ask. I will be watching from Cabo.”

“It is the opposite answer of what I told him last year,” Curry added. “It was like, God willing, I still have the choice and the physical option to be like, I could actually impact the team. Never say never, but I highly doubt it. Love to be a part of the movement.”

Has Curry’s stance changed since then? Did watching Team USA’s men’s and women’s hockey teams secure gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games re-ignite a fire to represent his country on the big stage?

There still is plenty of time for Curry and other NBA stars to decide if they will compete two-plus years from now, and it’s clear the Warriors sharpshooter has not made up his mind.
