Eastleigh reappoint Hill as interim manager

Eastleigh have reappointed Richard Hill as their manager on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Hill returns to the National League club for a fourth spell in the dugout following the sacking of Scott Bartlett on Saturday.

The Spitfires are 18th in the table, six points above the bottom four, and had won just five out of 23 league games under Bartlett, who was appointed in September.

Hill, 62, managed the club between 2012 and 2015 - leading them to promotion to the fifth tier during that time - and returned in 2017 and again during the 2023-24 season.

"He [Hill] understands the football club and knows exactly what is required to deliver results," said vice-chairman Tom Coffey.

"At a time when togetherness and calm leadership are essential, I am confident Richard will provide both."

A club statement said Hill's objective is to bring stability, improve results and ensure the team avoid relegation this season, adding that a recruitment process was in place to appoint a permanent manager for the 2026-27 season.

Meanwhile, Eastleigh have signed striker Inih Effiong on a deal until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old was most recently at Woking, leaving them in December, and has played almost 300 games in the division for other clubs including Notts County, Dover Athletic, Dagenham and Redbridge and Aldershot Town.
