Grand Jury Clears Beverley in Assault Case

A Texas grand jury has declined to indict former NBA player Patrick Beverley after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his sister last year.

Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley will not face criminal charges in connection with an alleged assault on his sister, a Texas grand jury decided Monday. The grand jury in Fort Bend County southwest of Houston chose not to indict Beverley on one count of assault of a family member, despite allegations that he grabbed his sister by the neck, slammed her against a wall and punched her in the face.

Beverley's attorneys maintained their client 'would never do anything to harm his sister,' while Beverley himself thanked supporters for prayers and emphasized the need to 'protect our children, especially our young girls.' The 12-year NBA veteran, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023-24, had been free on a $40,000 bond since his arrest in November.
