Liverpool Signs £60m Defender After PSG Hesitation

Liverpool has completed a £60 million deal for defender Jeremy Jacquet, who was almost signed by PSG before the French club hesitated over his technical development.

Jeremy Jacquet, a highly-rated France youth international, emerged as one of Europe's most promising center-backs after developing his game at Rennes. PSG previously had reservations about his technical abilities as a teenager, choosing Sékou Doucouré instead, who didn't progress into their first team.

Liverpool's interest accelerated as Jacquet matured physically and tactically, with the 6'4" defender now ranking among Europe's most effective in aerial duels. The 22-year-old is expected to join after completing rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and fits Arne Slot's system that emphasizes defenders comfortable on the ball.
