Blue Jays' Santander: Shoulder Pain Led to Surgery

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Anthony Santander revealed his shoulder pain returned in January when he resumed hitting, leading to surgery for a torn labrum that will sideline him for 5-6 months.

Anthony Santander has provided more details about his shoulder injury that will keep him out for the majority of the upcoming season. The 31-year-old Blue Jays outfielder said his shoulder pain resurfaced in January when he began hitting again, following an MRI that confirmed a torn labrum requiring surgery.

The injury, which was announced on the first day of spring training, is a recurrence of the same issue that limited Santander to just 54 regular-season games last year. He is currently in the second year of a five-year, $92.5-million contract with Toronto.
