Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando has promoted 27‑year‑old Caleb Walls, the former wide‑receiver coach, to head football coach after longtime head coach Rodney Wells stepped down. Walls, who has been on the staff for three years, said the opportunity is a blessing and that he has long admired Wells. The Panthers will now be led by a coach who grew up in the program.
Wells left after 15 seasons, compiling a 136‑50 record and seven double‑digit win seasons. The Panthers finished last season 9‑4 and were ranked 76th in the state. Walls will inherit a program that has consistently competed at the highest level in Florida.
