Jake Canter Wins Olympic Slopestyle Bronze After Near-Death Injury

Jake Canter, 22, captured Olympic bronze in slopestyle, proving his resilience after a 13‑year‑old trampoline accident left him with a traumatic brain injury.

Canter, who was told by doctors at age 13 that he would never snowboard again after a trampoline kick fractured his skull and left him in a coma, defied the prognosis. Nine years later, he landed a 1980‑degree spin on his final run to secure bronze in the slopestyle event at the Winter Olympics.

The victory, achieved amid a course criticized for its tight jumps and rails, is a testament to Canter’s determination and the support of his family and teammates. He dedicated the medal to his younger self and to everyone who helped him recover.
