Professional Game Match Officials have removed Kavanagh from Premier League duties following his performance at Villa Park. The match featured controversial decisions that went against Villa, contributing to their loss to Newcastle.
One of Kavanagh's assistants, Nick Greenhalgh, has also been stood down, while Gary Beswick will continue his duties for Nottingham Forest's match against Liverpool on Sunday.
