Mexico Names Squad for Iceland Friendly; Chivas Leads with 7

Mexico has announced its roster for the upcoming friendly against Iceland on February 25, with Chivas leading the way with seven players selected.

Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre named his squad for the friendly against Iceland, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Estadio Corregidora in Queretaro. Chivas contributes the most players to the squad with seven representatives, including Mexican-American internationals Brian Gutierrez, Richard Ledezma, and Efrain Alvarez who have recently chosen to represent Mexico over the USMNT.

The match serves as preparation for the 2026 World Cup and allows the coaching staff to evaluate players from various Liga MX clubs. Due to it not being an official FIFA international window, only players competing in Mexico's top flight were called up. América and Toluca each contribute four players to the roster.
