World Curling sends umpires away after athletes protest

World Curling has reversed its controversial decision to deploy umpires at the hog line, citing athlete dissatisfaction and the desire to uphold the sport's spirit.

The federation initially increased surveillance to catch double-touches, resulting in immediate disqualifications for Rachel Homan and Bobby Lammie.

However, following a meeting with national federations, they withdrew the umpires to ensure the games continued with a focus on the traditional "spirit of the game" rather than strict technical enforcement.
