The NFL is rich with wide receiver talent right now. A total of 19 wideouts went over 1,000 yards receiving last season, led by Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua – the only two players with more than 1,430 yards in 2025.
That makes ranking the best wide receivers incredibly difficult, but Hall of Famer Terrell Owens took on that task recently when asked to pick his top five by Sports Illustrated. The first two players he named? Nacua and Davante Adams, a pair of Rams stars.
“Right now, I would say Puka, Davante Adams, DeVonta Smith – I like him – Justin Jefferson and A.J. Brown,” Owens said.
It goes without saying that Owens’ list is a bit, well, questionable. Having two pairs of teammates in the top five is bizarre, even as good as they are. He also left out Smith-Njigba, Ja’Marr Chase and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who many would consider to be top-five wide receivers.
It’s admittedly tough to put together top-five rankings on the spot like he was asked to do, but there were some glaring omissions. That said, Nacua absolutely deserves to be up there, and no one would have a problem with ranking Jefferson in the top five with how he’s continued to produce despite getting poor play from his quarterbacks last season.
