Behind the Olympics, including a heavily bet USA-Canada men’s hockey final Sunday, and the NBA's return from its All-Star break, the Empire State’s online sports betting handle rose 3.5% week over week.

Key Takeaways

  • New York sportsbooks won $42.3 million during a week dominated by the Olympics and NBA betting.

  • FanDuel was the only online operator to post a double-digit hold.

  • BetMGM continues to struggle against New York bettors.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported on Friday a $475.3-million online sports betting handle for the week ending Feb. 22, a significant 11% increase compared to the same week in 2025.

The eight online operators were able to win back 8.9%, leaving them with $42.3 million in gross revenue. Profits were up 6.3% from the previous week and 11.3% year over year.

Despite the handle being less than $500 million for the second consecutive week since the Super Bowl, revenue surpassed $40 million for the third time in four weeks.

Leading the way

DraftKings edged FanDuel by less than $300,000 to lead New York with a handle of $164.6 million during the week ending Feb. 22. Wagering for the online operator increased nearly 7% from the previous week, and it’s the first time DraftKings has held the weekly handle title since early January.

FanDuel turned a better hold at 11% and was the only New York sports betting operator in double digits for the week, grossing $18.1 million.

DraftKings won back 9.2% to reach $15.2 million in weekly revenue. Both sportsbooks were more profitable than the previous week.

Other operators

Fanatics accepted more than $50 million in bets for the fourth consecutive week, and its $3.8 million in gross revenue was nearly $600,000 more than the previous period.

BetMGM has taken some hard hits in New York in recent months, failing to record a double-digit win rate in November and finishing in the red twice. The online operator had another tough week, winning back just 2.6% of a $38.4-million handle that was its lowest in three months.

Caesars recorded an 8.3% hold on $32.4 million in wagers, while BetRivers posted one of the best win rates in New York with an 8.6% hold on more than $11 million in wagers. Bally Bet reached 7% on a $3.2-million handle, while theScore Bet failed to get above 6.5% on more than $9.2 million in bets.
