Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has vowed his team will be at their best when they lock horns with bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h30).

The Glamour Boys, like their nemesis, head into the highly-anticipated match on the back of two consecutive defeats in different competitions.

Chiefs sit fourth on the Betway Premiership table, having picked up 30 points in 16 league outings, while Pirates are second with 38 points from 17 matches.

With maximum points and bragging rights at stake, Kaze has assured they will give their all to reign supreme in one of the biggest fixtures in African football.

“The derby is spicy and every time you come into the derby you want to do as much as you can, you want to win it. Let me say it because sometimes we don't really want to say it but you buy yourself a month of happiness with the fans and everyone,” said the Chiefs mentor.

"That's how it is, it's football, we just need to be honest and I know that both teams and especially us Kaizer Chiefs, we will do everything to have a very good performance on Saturday because it's the performance that's going to lead us to the positive results.

"We can't be looking at the positive results without putting a good performance first.

Notably, Chiefs will be searching for their first league victory over Pirates since February 2023, having been subjected to back-to-back league doubles in the previous two campaigns.
