Inter Milan Vs Genoa – Disappointing Stars From Bodo/Glimt Defeat Set To Be Given Chance For Redemption

Nicolo Barella, Manuel Akanji and Marcus Thuram are all in line to start for Inter Milan and Genoa tonight at San Siro, with the trio identified by Tuttosport as the most disappointing performers in the Champions League exit and now handed an immediate opportunity to make amends.

According to Tuttosport, all three are expected to feature from the off as Cristian Chivu looks to bounce back from the Bodo/Glimt elimination and consolidate Inter’s lead at the top of Serie A.

Thuram holds the advantage over Bonny and Esposito for the second striking berth alongside him, while Barella enters a competitive midfield battle with Mkhitaryan, Sucic and Frattesi for a place alongside Zielinski.

In defence, Akanji could shift to the right side of the back three, with Acerbi or De Vrij coming into the centre and Carlos Augusto replacing the suspended Bastoni on the left.

On the right wing-back, the contest between Luis Henrique and Darmian remains unresolved. Dimarco, as ever, is untouchable on the left.

For Barella and Akanji in particular, tonight represents more than just three points.

Both were below their best in the European exit and will be eager to rediscover their form against a Genoa side that, despite their precarious league position, has already proven capable of causing Inter problems this season.
