In our first offseason poll, we asked which player you are most looking forward to seeing at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine:
With 65.5% of the votes, we had a clear winner in Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. The New Orleans Saints have a big need at running back, with Alvin Kamara turning 31 in July and suffering injuries each of the last two years, and none of the other Saints running backs have shown much in relief of Kamara the last two years. Love has been one of the best running backs in college football over the last two years, rushing for a total of 2,497 yards and 35 touchdowns since 2024. He is just 20 years old and has carried the ball 433 times in his three years at Notre Dame (for comparison Mark Ingram had 572 carries in college, Saquon Barkley had 671, and Bijan Robinson had 539).
Love would be a huge boost to the offense and a big help to quarterback Tyler Shough as he enters his second season. The Saints ranked 28th in the NFL in rushing last year, so if Love can produce like Robinson or Barkley the Saints may find themselves with an above average offense next year to go with their defense which ranked 9th in the NFL last year.
All eyes will be on Love when he does his on-field workouts at the combine as he is by far the most highly touted running back prospect. If the Saints were to draft him at #8 they could be set up to make a run at the playoffs in a weak NFC South.
