Kings forward Andrei Kuzmenko has surgery for torn meniscus

The Los Angeles Kings will be without another forward for the foreseeable future.

Andrei Kuzmenko underwent successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus, the Kings announced Saturday.

The 30-year-old was placed on injured reserve and is listed as week-to-week.

In 52 games this season, Kuzmenko has 13 goals and 25 points. He joined the Kings last season ahead of the NHL trade deadline, scoring five goals and 17 points in 22 games and added six points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

He agreed to a two-year extension with Los Angeles worth $4.3 million ahead of free agency.

In a corresponding move, the Kings recalled defenceman Angus Booth from the AHL’s Ontario Reign.

The Kings already lost Kevin Fiala for the season after suffering a fracture in his left lower leg against Canada at the Olympics.

Los Angeles acquired Artemi Panarin from the New York Rangers before the Olympic break in order to address the team’s scoring need.
