Raptors’ Barnes questionable, Murray-Boyles out vs. Knicks

The Toronto Raptors will be shorthanded as they look to finally take a game off the New York Knicks.

Collin Murray-Boyles has been ruled out for Tuesday’s showdown (Sportsnet, 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT) with a thumb injury, while Scottie Barnes is questionable with a thigh bruise, head coach Darko Rajakovic told reporters after practice on Monday.

Murray-Boyles missed the Raptors’ last game against the Washington Wizards on Saturday after reaggravating a thumb injury he’s dealt with for much of the season.

The rookie forward suffered the initial injury on Dec. 15 against the Miami Heat and re-aggravated the issue in late January against the Los Angeles Lakers, missing four games as a result.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a solid year in Toronto, averaging 7.8 points, five rebounds, two assists and 1.8 stocks (steals plus blocks) in 47 games. He has started 21 games as the Raptors have dealt with the absence of starting centre Jakob Poeltl.

Barnes, meanwhile, has been dealing with the thigh issue since last week’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has suited up for the team’s last two games and went through practice on Monday.

The fifth-year forward has put together an impressive campaign, averaging 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.4 steals and a career-high 1.6 blocks in 58 games. The 24-year-old has only missed two games this season.

The Raptors are currently 35-25 and sit fifth in the Eastern Conference.
