Jürgen Klopp’s Red Bull future in doubt

Jürgen Klopp’s future as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer is in serious doubt, so much so that the former Liverpool manager could leave his post as early as this summer, according to L’EquipeThe German head coach joined the Austrian brand on January 1st 2025 on the back of his nine-year tenure on Merseyside.

Red Bull CEO Olivier Mintzlaff previously denied recent reports of Klopp’s position being under threat, but the outlet understands that the sporting situation at RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg is hardly in keeping with the brand’s ambitions. Klopp may bear the blame for this.

Leipzig are only fifth in the Bundesliga standings despite a lighter schedule due to their absence on the continental stage. As for Salzburg, they have exited the Europa League in the opening phase.

The other European club within Red Bull’s portfolio – promoted Ligue 1 side Paris FC – also lays bare Klopp’s output. The German was not at all involved in the appointment of Antoine Kombouaré, who doesn’t exactly fit the Red Bull guy profile.

L’Equipe adds that Klopp does not particularly enjoys his new role, and rumours of a summer exit are swirling. The German could even be in line for a return to management. Current Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner is reportedly frequently mentioned as his possible successor as Red Bull’s new Head of Global Soccer.
