Liverpool are considering signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Patrick Berger. The Anfield club sold the Englishman to the Bundesliga club last summer but Liverpool manager Arne Slot wants reinforcements at the back. The Reds sold Quansah to Leverkusen for €35 million last summer but secured an €80m buy-back clause in the deal. The clause is valid until the end of May and it appears Liverpool will consider triggering it.
They could lose Ibrahima Konate for free at the end of the season as he has yet to agree to terms of an extension. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is also approaching the twilight of his career and the club want to strengthen in defence. Quansah is proving himself in the German top-flight and a return to Anfield could appeal to him.
The 23-year-old has played 32 times across all competitions this term, weighing in with four goals.
He made 23 appearances for Liverpool last term but was open to leaving last summer for regular football elsewhere.
