Chicago Cubs news and notes — Busch, Steele, Taillon

The Cubs were in Goodyear, west of the Valley, to face the Reds. The Reds’ outfield was kind enough to allow the Cubs plenty of extra bases on balls they should have caught and/or corralled, and surely Jameson Taillon was thankful for the support. Moises Ballesteros had a highlight [VIDEO]. Chas McCormick drove in a run [VIDEO].

Brady Singer, not so much. He did throw a nice double-play ball to minimize his trouble. Taillon has six home runs in six innings pitched. Ouch.

Dylan Carlson had some trouble out there as well. High sky for sure. Like trying to see with pupil dilation. The Reds were not very kind to Taillon’s offerings, in general. The Cubs bailed him out, though. But it didn’t last.

But Ryan Rolison was singularly unimpressive and the Reds scored many. Matt McLain is having quite a spring.

Kade Snell had a consolation prize. The Cubs had three field goals. The Reds had two TDs and an FG.

The Cubs are still adding around the edges. Brew Crew Wednesday.
