Alabama will have a multitude of new playmakers on both sides of the football during the 2026 campaign.
The Tide lost various players to both the transfer portal and NFL draft this offseason. Alabama will more than likely look like an entirely different team to begin the 2026 season opposed to last year, as a number of freshman and sophomores on both sides of the ball are expected to make a massive impact throughout the entire campaign.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff are expected to name new captains on the Crimson Tide as well, as a decision is expected to be made at a later date this year with each of Ty Simpson, Parker Brailsford, Tim Keenan III, and Deontae Lawson having moved on.
Here are three potential candidates who could be named as a captain for the Crimson Tide in 2026.
Bray Hubbard, Safety
Hubbard played a pivotal role in the Alabama secondary throughout the entire 2025 campaign. The star safety recorded 79 total tackle, four interceptions, and three forced fumbles last season, as Hubbard is an excellent candidate to be named as a captain on the Tide’s defense in 2026.
Hubbard is expected to play a massive role once again this season, as the talented senior enters his third season as a starter for the Crimson Tide at safety.
Ryan Williams, Wide Receiver
Williams could potentially emerge as a captain on the Crimson Tide offense in 2026. The star playmaker is widely regarded as one of the top overall skill players in the SEC, and will be entering his third season at Alabama having ranked among the Crimson Tide's top wide receivers the last two years.
The junior had a down year in 2025 compared to his freshman season, but Williams will more than likely bounce back in major fashion when the season begins in August.
Yhonzae Pierre, Outside Linebacker
Pierre was nothing short of elite throughout the 2025 season. The star outside linebacker would prove to be an excellent captain in 2026, as Pierre is one of the top returning players on Alabama's defense after a breakout season a year ago.
Pierre was credited with an extremely impressive 52 total tackles, 14.5 TFL, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles in 2025, as the talented redshirt junior will be one of Alabama's leaders defensively once again in 2026.
Alabama will begin the 2026 season on Sept. 5 against East Carolina.
