The Chargers signed Becton to a two-year deal last March, but the contract included no guaranteed money for the 2026 season. By cutting him, the team would free up $9.7 million in cap space while incurring $2.5 million in dead money.
Becton appeared in 15 regular season games for the Chargers last season, starting at right guard, and also started their playoff loss to the Patriots. Despite early career injury struggles, he won a starting job with the Eagles in 2024 before joining the Chargers.
