Australian F1 Fans Disappointed by Kayo Extension

Formula 1's extension of its broadcasting deal with Kayo Sports has drawn significant backlash from Australian fans, who cite high costs and preference for alternatives like Apple TV.

Formula 1 has extended its broadcasting agreement with Kayo Sports into 2027 and beyond, a decision that has disappointed many Australian fans. The streaming service, which secured F1 rights after Foxtel ended free-to-air coverage in 2015, faces criticism for its pricing structure ($29.99-$45.99 monthly) and limited options compared to services like Apple TV, which now holds F1 rights in the United States.

The backlash comes despite Kayo's recent addition of an F1TV commentary option following complaints about bias in the Sky Sports UK feed toward British driver Lando Norris. While the Australian Grand Prix will continue to be shown for free by Network 10, many fans have expressed frustration on social media, with comments ranging from calls for Apple TV or Stan to take over to predictions of future price hikes.
