Bills GM Rips Tate's 40-Time at Combine

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane poked fun at Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate's 4.54-second 40-yard dash time during Saturday's NFL Scouting Combine broadcast.

Beane, appearing on the NFL Network broadcast alongside Rich Eisen and Daniel Jeremiah, couldn't resist joking about the top wideout's speed. 'He's pretty slow,' Beane said with a smile. 'I probably wouldn't take him early. ... Did you see how slow he was out of the gate? The corner's gonna lock him down.'

The comment drew laughter from everyone present. Despite the slow time, Tate remains firmly in the first-round conversation after catching 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. Beane may simply be playing poker, hoping Tate slips to Buffalo at No. 26 overall.
