Brennan wins Flemish classic, first Brit since Cavendish

British sprinter Matthew Brennan, 20, has won the Flemish classic Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, becoming the first British rider to triumph in the race since Mark Cavendish.

Matthew Brennan rocketed out of an accelerating pack to secure victory for team Visma-Lease-a-bike on Sunday. The 20-year-old from Darlington triumphed in a sprint finish reminiscent of Cavendish's earlier wins in 2012 and 2015.

Despite the similarity to Cavendish's style, Brennan chose to avoid direct comparisons with the legendary sprinter following his historic win. The young star has established himself as a contender in these types of races, stating, "I'm always there in these kind of races."
