Cincinnati sues QB Sorsby after Texas Tech transfer

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, alleges Sorsby violated a multi-year NIL revenue-sharing agreement signed in July 2025. Cincinnati Athletics stated they expect student-athletes to honor contractual commitments and intend to enforce the terms regarding his departure before the two seasons were completed.

Sorsby announced his transfer to the Red Raiders on Jan. 4. His representatives at LIFT Sports Management criticized the legal move as misguided, arguing the university benefited from his NIL contributions. Sorsby opted out of Cincinnati's Liberty Bowl appearance in December to enter the transfer portal.
