Golfer Pavan Discharged After Elevator Shaft Fall

Professional golfer Andrea Pavan has been discharged from a South African hospital one week after falling three stories down an elevator shaft. The 36-year-old Italian will remain in the country for approximately five more weeks of rehabilitation.

Pavan shared on social media that he's able to walk at a slow pace following multiple surgeries on his shoulder and back, as well as treatment for fractures to several vertebrae. The accident occurred on February 25 when Pavan, who was in South Africa for the DP World Tour's Investec South African Open, stepped into an elevator shaft believing the car was present.

A GoFundMe page established by one of Pavan's former teammates has raised over $81,000 to support his recovery. The DP World Tour winner expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, calling his recovery 'truly like a miracle.'
