Govt Bars Differently-Abled Cricket Council from Using 'India'

The Union sports ministry has directed the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to remove 'India' from its name and activities as it is not recognized as a National Sports Federation.

The ministry stated that only government-recognized federations are allowed to use the terms 'India' or 'Indian'. Similar notices were sent to other sports bodies including the Women's Football Federation of India. DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan requested NSF status, highlighting the council's international tournaments and BCCI backing.

In a separate move, the ministry has withdrawn recognition of the Taekwondo Federation of India as the National Sports Governance Act now requires all bodies to seek formal recognition.
