Rams Too Much for Tough Spartans

Colorado State defeated San Jose State 85-73 in a Mountain West game that was closer than the final score indicated.

The Spartans (8-21, 3-15 MW) showed fight against the Rams (17-11, 9-8 MW), matching them shot-for-shot in a high-scoring first half. Colby Garland led San Jose State with 28 points and eight assists, while freshman guard Melvin Bell Jr. added 12 first-half points.

Colorado State's offensive precision ultimately wore down the Spartans, as the Rams finished shooting 62% from the field and 53% from three. Despite the loss, San Jose State head coach Tim Miles acknowledged his team's competitive effort against one of the Mountain West's hottest teams.
