Warrenton Girls Win State Basketball Title

The Warrenton 8th grade girls basketball team secured the state championship title with a 60-52 victory over Madras/Warm Springs in the tournament final on March 1.

The team demonstrated resilience in the championship game, trailing by nine points at halftime before mounting a comeback to claim the title. Warrenton finished the tournament with a 5-1 record, their only loss coming in a 66-54 defeat to Madras the previous day. Along the way, they defeated Yamhill-Carlton 52-40, Crescent Valley 45-17, Banks 40-28, and Seaside 48-20.

The championship squad consists of six 8th graders and four 7th graders, with six of the players having competed together for five years, showcasing the team's continuity and development over time.
