The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is set to approve a new rule requiring players who receive on-field treatment to wait one minute on the sideline before rejoining the game. This measure aims to combat time-wasting in football, as many players have been known to feign injuries to delay matches.
Currently, no specific rule exists regarding how long treated players must remain off the field, with different leagues setting their own guidelines. The Premier League has implemented a 30-second rule since the 2023/24 season, but the new universal standard will take effect once approved by IFAB this Saturday.
